minestra riscaldata
[mee-nes-trah rees-kal-dah-tah]

(noun) This wonderful Italian idiom redefines the meaning of comfort. It is generally used to describe a phase of a romantic relationship, the post break-up reunion. Minestra riscaldata is an indication of something that has gone wrong once, but you return knowing it won’t be as “good” or “exciting” as the initiation. For example, returning with an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend for a second or third time. The literal definition, warmed up soup depicts this sentiment well. Heating up your soup will not taste better than when it was first served. It is still delicious, and you find comfort in it, so you choose nothing new to try. Are you catching our drift here? Getting back together with your former flame will never taste as delicious as the first time, you return for its comfort; it is what you know. It is hard to ignore a food analogy that begins in the heart!

  • literally: re-heated/warmed up soup

Nothing you say on tumblr matters.

Nothing you are defending is making a difference.

Dont act like you stand for something, actually stand for it.
